A Call
“To Be (Called), or Not to Be”
What is a “call”? To me, it’s an inner pull toward something you feel compelled to explore or pursue. It doesn’t always come with logic or reason, but it demands attention and action—so long as it’s neither harmful nor inhumane.
I’ve been fortunate to feel strong callings throughout most of my life. They’ve given me direction and fueled my passions—sometimes driven by ego, sometimes by creativity, sometimes by something greater than myself. Without those calls guiding me, I doubt I’d be where I am today.
The journey we’re on now, Guided by Wolves, wasn’t originally my call—it was my husband’s. Yet, I felt called to listen to his, to follow and support his vision. Together, we hope this adventure sharpens our senses to a grander call we’ve yet to fully understand.

To Be (Called), or Not to Be
My personal calling during this journey is to slow down, be fully present in the “now,” and dive deeper within myself. I’m also seizing this opportunity to tap into my creativity and make progress on a long-held dream: writing a book on anger, the flip side of depression—a project I’ve been drawn to since 2014.
In my experience, a lack of calling, purpose, or goals can easily lead to depression. I’ve felt it during periods of transition, those empty spaces where nothing feels certain. We all need purpose—and even more importantly, connection—to feel truly alive.
Writing gives me that connection. It allows me to explore my own inner world while reaching out to others who may feel the same. So I ask you: What is your call? How do you find it? And how do you know when it’s truly yours?
Right now, I’m reading Callings: Finding and Following an Authentic Life by Gregg Levoy. I’m only a quarter of the way through, but its timing feels perfectly synchronistic. If you’re searching for your own call—or if you’re already on the path but seeking deeper understanding—I highly recommend it.
