Beaches We Love

“Mexico Pt. II”

As we traveled from Oaxaca to Chiapas, we couldn’t stop reminiscing about the stunning beaches along the Oaxaca coast. We love two kinds of shorelines: beautiful, deserted beaches and charming, up‑and‑coming beach towns—and Oaxaca offers both.

1. Pristine, Untouched Shores

Vast stretches of the Oaxaca coast are eerily serene and breathtaking. We discovered hidden gems north of Zipolite and south of Puerto Escondido. At one beach in Chacahua National Park, we met a park ranger who invited us to release 200 baby turtles into the ocean as the sun dipped below the horizon—a magical, unforgettable moment. At another, I completed a 15K sunrise run, surrounded by hundreds of egrets, herons, and pelicans. Pure nature therapy.

2. The Allure of Zipolite

Zipolite is a perfect example of a beach that’s been quietly discovered—but still retains its charm. What makes a beach town special, in our eyes?

    • A beautiful shore embraced by interesting, open-minded travelers from around the world
    • A few standout restaurants and mezcalerías, without feeling overdeveloped

Mexico Pt. II

Zipolite checks all those boxes. It’s known for its artist and nudist culture (it’s the only beach in Mexico where nudism is legal), yet its remote location keeps it refreshingly off the beaten path. It still feels authentic—almost enchanted.
